Looking for Santa Barbar Wine Country New Years 2009 Celebration

Posted by mwcatlin, Nov 4, 2008.

My wife and I live in L.A. We love the Santa Barbara wines.

I would love to take her to a really wonderful New Years event at a winery in the Santa Barbara, Santa Ynez, Santa Maria area this year.

Does anyone have a suggestion....connection....

I know the area really well and love the wines but I am not sure of any events. I go up to Pismo every year the weekend after new years and hit as many of the wine regions as I can, it's a great time to be there! My favorite region in the area is Santa RIta Hills, might want to check if any of them are doing anything (Melville is one of my favorites). The cafe that was in Sideways (the name escapes me at the moment) has really good food and wine and might be doing something.

thanks, I'll check into Melville. If anyone has any specific ideas....??

At the moment...I think we might go to Pachanga....stay....and cruise around.

Pechanga, in Temecula? Or do you mean the Chumash Indian Casino outside Solvang? If in Temecula, we are right down the street, lot's of stuff to do here too!

Pechanga appears to be sold out. I'm checking Chumash today.

Is there a B&B in Temecula you might recommend for the New Years maybe checking in New Years day....staying through Sat nite?

I don't know of any B&B's but there are a lot of places out in the wine country. Churon WInery has a beautiful Inn. South Coast Winery is also really nice, total Spa vacation. You could probably google Temecula and wineries and come up with a whole bunch of possibilities.

Go to the Fess Parker Winery in the Santa Ynez Valley ( near Buellton) 30-40 minutes north of Santa Barbara on Highway 101. They will have info on places to stay in the little towns around the area. Great place to visit all times of the year. Several times of the year there are 2 or 3 night specials in quaint Bed and Breakfast facilities.
