Looking for a semi sweet sparkling wine.................

Posted by Sue Judd Anderson, Nov 28, 2012.

Asti Spumonte is way way way too sweet.  Is there a sparkling wine or champagne that is  not as sweet?

Entertaining at Christmas, need suggestions please.

Hi Sue,

you can try an extra sec or sec style Champagne - they have some sweetness but they are not cloyingly sweet :-) Good luck!

Sue, easy to find any, probably, relatively inexpensive--any California Sparkler labeled "Extra Dry."  For some reason or other, it seems to me that "Extra Dry" on a California Sparkling wine means "Sorta Sweet."

Donhoff Riesling Kabinett from the Nahe, the 2011's going for $25 highly recommended if the price works.

I like Asti Cinzano and Verde Spumante for parties as they are inexpensive and good.  Great help if you are looking to hold down cost.

The Moscato Di Asti is great make sure you ask for one that is sparkling.

Jon - that's a nice wine but if yours is sparkling, you might want to check the label again!

Ha, knew it was too good to be true!

Buy it anyway...it tastes like it sparkles, shimmers, and shines.
