label photos

Posted by gr, Jun 5, 2007.

dumping ground, in 140x140 (search results) and 134x212 (description page; stuck with 134xwhatever where my photo wouldn't jive with the vertical) sizes, PNG format (even though you're using GIFs... tsk, but we've talked about that already, Mark). I've still got the original images (JPEG, but thousandsXthousands) and, if you act quickly, all but three (that's all I dropped in the recycling bin out front tonight) actual bottles. My photography isn't exactly studio quality, but, hey, beats a stock Snooth image, probably not as good as a stock image from the winery/importer, provided you can use those legally. You are free to use these as you like, of course. I bought the object, I own the object, I have or will drink the contents. Seems to me that's fair use.
You've got a picture, but it doesn't match the bottle I have. These are of the bottle I have.

In general, you'll be able to find label photos I take at ... and if that gets a 404, just email/call me.

we're going to build something that will allow users to add photos to a wine (multiple ones even)

Okay. You're welcome to shove those in, if you'd like, but I won't take it personally (for long ;^>) if you don't.

On that thing you're going to build: be explicit that they a) need to assert that they own copyright and b) that they're surrendering that ownership to you so that nobody shanghais you.

Uploaded all of the above, after converting to JPEG (as discussed under except which you need to blow away in the backing store before I can re-upload.
