Types of wines

Posted by Kim Watson, Aug 26, 2012.

I need some help. I am new to the wine world.  I have tried and liked Roscato Rosso Dolce.  Can anyone suggest a similiar wine that I may also like.  Sweet, with a little sparkle.

I am really out of my comfort zone, here, Kim, but a couple things that come to my mind are Lambrusco and Asti Spumante.  By "sparkle" I assume you mean effervescence.  If that is the case, the Asti will have much more sparkle than a Lambrusco.

In the meantime welcome to the wine world.  You have found a great place to ask your questions.  There are a lot of participants here who should be able to give you some great suggestions.

Please come back and tell us what you are trying.

Welcome Kim,

When I started on this forum I was a relative beginner ( still am, compared to most of the guys on here). You are definitely in the right place and maybe we can persuade you to try a variety of wines as well as the sweet sparklers. Do not hesitate to ask questions this is a great and friendly site, have fun experimenting !

if you can find some Bracchetto D'Acqui Spumante I am sure you would love it!

Hi Kim,

I agreed with the others that Asti Spumante and Bracchetto D'Acqui should appeal to you. As for Lambrusco, I personally find it an acquired taste and not sure if you will like it. Give it a try and let us know!

I just joined this site.  I hope you don't mind a response so late.  Found a very good champagne-rose.  Not that expensive it is Laurent Perrier Cuvee Rose Brut

I like that it is not expensive, has a refreshing taste and is light.

There are cheaper French sweet sparkling wines than Champagne.Have a look at the sparkling Vouvrays or the wines from the Limoge region

DUNCAN 906 sure made a good point as regards VOUVRAY!
