Is there such a thing as a GOOD boxed wine?

Posted by jelepea, Mar 16, 2010.

I've been told that the wine industry has improved boxed wine. It sounds tempting - a box of white in the refrigerator to grab a glass of wine before dinner. Or a box of red on the counter to enjoy or use while cooking. But, I'm skeptical. Too much cheap-o bad boxed wine in my past, perhaps? Has anyone tried a boxed wine (for cooking or for drinking) that they thought was good?

Try Blackbox....Sonoma fruit, NZ Sauv Blanc not bad! And your partner will never know how much you drank last night!

Good one !

I have never had a BOX OF WINE !

I remember frowning on a man who pulled a huge box of wine from his refrigerator door and attempted to offer me a glass (in England).....!!

I would not tell you what I said to him!

Anyway, I have changed over the years and one day soon I will eventually taste boxed wine for the fun of it!

I have never seen it around though.

Is it popular in the United States?

The USA marketing teams are always trying to expand the consumer base as well as trying to profit from every catergory. The wine are more cost effective per ounce and stay fresh for up to a month for reds and longer for whites. I never have a problem with finishing a bottle but I'm a wine-o. Besides there are worst wines in bottle with cork finish

I like Yellow + Blue Malbec, and keep it on hand as a go-to beach/BBQ option. It's great to just toss in a picnic basket.

One more on Carly's point. You can take it out of the box and the bladder lays flat on top of the ice in your cooler. I have a friend that loves to go on cruises but hates paying for the swill they serve. He stuffs a couple of bladders in his bags and six liters of wine later...
