- Introduction!
Hello all,
I realized that I have a very limited knowledge of wine but love what I know, so I chose to join on here and learn from some wine enthusiasts.
My name is Mandy, I'm 22. I love a good quality White Zinfandel, a nice glass of Shiraz occasionally, and love Colli Albani white.
Alright, that's all. See you around the site!

All the way on the other side I see!
Well you're a heck of a lot closer to west country wine country than me. I hope you get to take advantage of that!

Hi Mandy!
Welcome to Snooth! I'm a displaced Canadian in Cali now so it is nice to see a fellow Canuck on the board.
Have you experimented with any of the BC wines? They have had a really big rise quality over the past of the years. If you need any recommendations let me know and I have a few and can point you to some people that have a bunch more.
See ya,
John

Hi John!
Nice to see another Canuck on the board as well. My brother just recently moved to Napa Valley, working in a restaurant/vineyard there and I'm DYING to visit him. California really is beautiful, just like BC.
I drink almost exclusively BC wine. But I'm always happy to be pointed in a good direction? What would you suggest? I have no really good 'wine friends' :D
Thanks for the shout back!

Hey Mandy ... I'm in the Bay Area but work part time in Sonoma on the weekends. Where does your brother work?
As for recommendations for BC wineries that I know of are:
- Laughing Stock
- Burrowing Owl
- Mission Hill
And a few from a friend in the BC area that reviews wines for a living:
- Quails' Gate
- Nk'Mip
- Nichol
- La Frenz
- Cedar Creek
Don't know much about the second list ('cept for Quails Gate) but I trust my friend.

Welcome Msheep! I have family in Vancouver and my cousin's a chef somewhere there, He still owes me some Icewine! What other BC wines do you like? I'd love to hear about them, then I could pester my cousin to send me some.
@HondaJohn - jus curious where do you work in Sonoma?

msheep - if you like white zinfandel, then try some other rosado or rosé wines too. It's summer and this is a good time to try some. Most of the white zinfandel is on the sweeter side because it has some residual sugar, but not every rosado has that quality and some of them are very dry and crisp.
And just for learning purposes, later in the fall, you might get a couple of friends and buy a rosado and a red made by the same winery from the same grape. Using zinfandel for example, which is a wonderful red grape, try a "white" zinfandel and a regular zinfandel from the same producer.
It might be easier to do with a different grape - garnacha for example.
And here's a suggestion too:

Good luck.
