A bit about me: I currently work as a Wine Consultant at VOS Selections, an importer and distributor of premium wines, spirits and sakes. Prior to this, I was for six years Wine Educator at Winebow, focusing on training the wholesale sales force. I started my career in the wine industry ten years ago at wine retailer Best Cellars where I loved helping customers find the perfect wine and food pairing or discover new grape varieties.
Before 'officially' entering the wine industry, I specialized in Greek and Roman Archaeology (MA, Institute of Fine Arts; BA, UC Berkeley), during which time I led an excavation at Tel Dor for four seasons and spent one additional in Turkey where I uncovered a life-size statue of Zeus. My specializations (an early call to the wine industry, perhaps?) included Greek drinking vessels and frescoes of Roman drinking parties in Pompeii.
The combination of historical context and the character of wine in all its wonderful dimensions— scientific, sensual and cultural – is a continuing passion. I found the WSET program to be an invaluable tool to my professional development. Along with the DWS and the Professional Certification in Spirits, I hold the Certified Specialist of Wine credential from the Society of Wine Educators.
I am very much looking forward to contributing to the Snooth community!!

So Danica, what, pray, would you fill those amphorae with, given the chance, I wonder?

Welcome, we need a classicist since GregT can only handle the wine history back to about 16-something!
