Introducing me...

Posted by brazilindy, Jul 16, 2010.

Hi everyone! I just stumbled across this site and will stick around a little to try to learn something. I'm a total wine newbie. Glad to have a Forum available to meet others!

I've always loved wine, but I know very little about it. I know the most important thing though -- I love the taste (which in the end, I suppose, is the most important thing!).

I drink reds almost exclusively -- merlot and cab -- but am open to learning more about others. I've got a lot to learn about wine, so I'm off to do some reading!

Thanks for welcoming me!

Hi there!  I'm new here too, just joined a day or two ago.  I am not much of a wine expert either but I definitely appreciate good wine with some depth and aroma. As I drink more and more wine I find myself paying more and more for each bottle. Guess that means I'm growing up. Darn!  Anyway - see you around.

Hey Angelgirl...thanks for saying "hi" :-)

You know, I've still never spent a lot for wine. I guess I have the money to spend if I wanted to spend more...I've just always been satisfied with wine at the $10 - $20 dollar range.

I'm not sure if this is due more to my less-than-sophisticated pallette, or just that cheaper wines can be very good also.

Welcome Brazilindy & Angerlgirl1982:

There's a wealth of information here on Snooth, with a ton of folks who share your passion, so have fun.

BTW: In case you were wndering: 1982 was one of the best years on record.  From Bordeaux at least :).

Brazilindy:

I actually consider $20/bottle to be in the high range - it's all relative, since when I turned 21 I was drinking BlackVines for $3.99 and Beringer White Zin at approx $4.99... LOL! I generally spend $10-$20 per bottle, too.

Chip: Interesting tidbit...  :D

Hey brazilindy,

Welcome to Snooth. I hope you share some of your thoughts here with the Snooth forum. One of the greatestest things about wine is that there is always something new to learn!

"BTW: In case you were wondering: 1982 was one of the best years on record.  From Bordeaux at least :)"

Since I have a small milesone B/D coming up I was thinking about a Bordeaux from my birth year. Looks like '61 was a pretty decent year as well.

'61 Latour - $2,250

'61 Haut-Brion - $2,200

I'm special but not that special. So I thought about '82 which was the year I turned 21.

'82 Latour - $1,575

'82 Haut-Brion - $650

'82 Margaux - $735

'82 Rothschild - $955

'82 Petrus - $3,349

But the 1982's aren't even ready to drink. Well, not at their prime anyhow. Damn. Perhaps I need to re-evaluate my self-worth?
