I have the same problem. This happens everytime a spammer strikes our inboxes and their account's deleted.
Mark, can you remove that ghost new message from my box, too, please? And anyway to get a permanent fix since we're likely to see more spammers sometime in the future?

Yes, I have this too; assumed it was just poor tech skills on my part and have it on ignore. I've been spammed more than once, though.

You had a spam message, I cleared the acount of the spammer before your got to your mailbox, but the flag remains up.
I'll add this to techs to do list.
