I would definitely go to this event. The price would be well worth it.
The '89 and the '90 would be the anticipated highlights for me. Haven't had them for awhile. Wonder if the '90 Jacques Perrin will still reveal that enticing hint of Brett-as-aphrodisciac ;-), but aside from my perhaps-kinkiness, the large formats and more recent vintages also look more than a little interesting.....
Château de Beaucastel Tasting
Thursday, May 5, 2011
2152 N. Damen Ave, Chicago, IL
$195 per person (all inclusive)
Join us as we enjoy and compare 10 different Châteauneuf-du-Pape wines from famed Rhône producer Château de Beaucastel, including two vintages of Châteauneuf-du-Pape Roussanne Vieilles Vignes and two vintages of the legendary Hommage à Jacques Perrin. This walk-around tasting will feature the locally-sourced and seasonal cuisine of Bristol Chef Chris Pandel.
The wines of Château de Beaucastel are the result of three generations of the Perrin family’s meticulous attention to terroir and careful cultivation of 50+ year old vines. The Beaucastel reds consist of thirteen grape varieties from the Châteauneuf-du-Pape appellation, with a strong percentage of Mourvèdre and Grenache (30% each), Syrah (10%), Counoise (10%) and Cinsault (5%). The balance is divided between the remaining grape varieties: Vaccarèse, Terret noir, Muscardin, Picpoul, Picardan, Bourboulenc and Roussanne.

I've been looking to buy my first Beaucastel, this would be much better than simply buying a bottle but unfortunately can't swing a trip to Chi-town.
