MJET, sounds like this Left Bank Bordeaux should be in your wheelhouse, and it's more or less in your locale (more than any of the rest of us, anyhow). Have you had some before? Very good wine, though it's become too popular and thus pricey, especially this decade. Used to be one of my dailies back in the '90s...

I still drink Insignia from time to time, but nowhere near as much as during past years with vintages from the '80s and '90s. PonCanet I'm happy to drink any time.  :-)

So... D., are you ordering some P-C (which,  though very good is ridiculously overpriced and I hate a bad bargain) from far-off FLA?

And is the point of this thread to flog product (or more rarely, to share in some central FLA location like Winter Haven)?  If selling, how so and how much?  There are people here who might be interested, even if I am sitting on the cusp.

There was a time when I wanted what I wanted, price be damned, but that's long past. Very much dislike paying more than I have to, now, for any given product or service, Zuf. Perhaps we're on the same page. And if you are considering a plunge, you probably ought to PM William.

If PonCanet were anywhere near its old price position I'd be interested, but afraid monies currently need to go elsewhere than towards the spindrift of an overheated market wave. Apologies for that mixed imagery...

Zufrieden, Pontet is currently available to purchase on winedotcom Florida.  anywhere Florida.

*****My suggestion was to share a Pontet in North Palm Beach. (which obviously I would purchase from previously mentioned website)

-and DMCKER you are 100% correct and my wine crowd doesn't bring Bordeaux anymore. 13yrs ago Pontet was $65 MAX max on a great year. Now well over $300. and as to who is elevating the price and demand? Beats me.? I also have always liked a Pontet. -William Event... RSVP.

William, back in the '90s it ranged in the 20s, and in the '80s below that. I was buying '82s for that price. In volume.

Would love to join you in North Palm for a tipple, and even have an old flame in Delray who's been asking me to come over for awhile. Unfortunately (on both fronts) not in the cards for the forseeable future.  ;-(

Zuf, I saw a Robert Mondavi To Kalon cab 2012 yesterday at my BCLD Signature store for $150 (CDN before tax).  I think this is a relative bargain.  I'm getting one today.  I'll sit on it for at least five years though.

Pontet-- Canet's started upgrading in standards several years ago (I was buying them periodically until about 2005.  The rise quickly escalated after their wines were being highly touted by RP & WS. Guy Tesseron's son Alfred is currently running the estate and has pushed money into winery and quality into the mind making Wine Spectator did a huge article on them high lighting their rise and ownership mindset.

IMO that set the US buyers into a buy mode for awhile that really sparked the up swing dramatically.  Now understand I am a capitalist and believe that if they'll pay for it sell it.  Just look at Burgundy - small crops for whatever reason leads to higher costs and sell and sell.

Simply - supply and demand - we are doing it to ourselves.

PonCanet has always been good and is not necessarily much better now. The tweaking that has been done was for RP's ratings, and it didn't just involve capital expenditure, but plenty on PR. You're buying the marketeer-speak.  ;-)
