How did you first find Snooth?

Posted by Philip James, Apr 21, 2008.

We're still in the early days of building snooth into what we all hope it will become (fingers crossed!), and i'm really interested in hearing how you pioneering early adopters came across the site, and what caught your attention early on?

YOU are the Snooth community, and its so hard for any of us who work here to see the site through a new user's eyes any more. We'd love to hear your first time experiences - good or bad.

Thank you. Now, spill the beans...

GR

And gave it a try when the cork'd interface told me that the wine I was trying to review was already in their database, but there was no link to add a rating/review. I'd have to click to their search feature, search, and pick the wine to rate.

I keep coming back for the forum.

I found Snooth through a google search for a certain wine I was looking for at the time. I hung around because it seems friendly enough and maybe a newbie like me can learn something.

Thanks Susie and Squirt, its interesting, but i think a lot of people will echo Susie's comment that its the blog that keeps people checking back the most. We spend most of our time working on the data (we're about to remove 180,000 duplicates within the next day for example), but the forum is where the community is. We're going to do some things to tie the wine pages into the forum which i think will be a really novel feature - that should be done in a week or so.

Thanks for the feedback, and here's hoping for more, as i know many people use the site in different ways.

I am pretty much the same as Squirt. Found a wine I loved, googled it, and snooth came up. I have stayed for two main reasons: the forums and the ability to rate "My Wines." I always forget what I had and how I felt about it, now I am able to track it. The forums have made me realize how much more I want to learn and I even signed up for an online course the other day! Everyone here is so friendly and has never made me feel like a newbie.

I predict I will be buying more wine than I originally thought as well because of the recomendations I receive both through the search and in the forums.

I think I saw something about Snooth in one of the daily newsletters I get from WineBusiness.com.

I remember the first time I showed Snooth to Philip. It was a blank white screen with some black text on it. I thought it was amazing because I had written all this backend code and it was actually doing something. Very exciting!

I think Philip, however, had a heart attack.

I think the text said something like "Hello, I am Snooth". It was like Hal, version 0.1

The journey of a thousand lines of code starts with "Hello, world!"
