How can I set up the Snooth Widget to display a selection of Italian wines?

Posted by Blog from Italy, Sep 29, 2008.

I think the title says it all. Anyone know how to do this? My blog is all about Italy, and although I am no expert, I love Italian wine.

I used to be a red only lover, but now I'm discovering Italian whites - which are not at all bad.

It would be great to be able to display the top rated Italian wines, red or white, on a widget on my blog.

And know some kind person has developed a Snooth widget for Wordpress powered sites like mine! This I want to play with.

Thanks for reading my wining,

Alex

Alex - interesting request. The widget currently doesnt support this, but let me think about what we can do - as there's clearly a use for generally high rated wines rather than just a specific users history.

Mark or I will get back to you on this...

Thanks

Hey Alex, We discussed what we can do and I think we've come up with a pretty cool idea for a widget. It might take us a short while to build this around all our other work but we're into the idea and want to do it.

Until we do, there's an option you might be able to use if you're more technical, the Snooth API.

Hi Mark - great news on the widget front! Keep me informed - and if you want a beta tester or something like that - let me know.

I had a look at the API, but I'm not technical enough to put it to good use alas.

This coming Friday I'm probably going to run an article on Snooth on my Blog from Italy site and how it can help people track down Italian wine outside of Italy. First of all though, I want to have a good look around and a play.

The site looks great and the service is very interesting too.

Best,

Alex

Salve Alex,
Se un Inglese Milanese? Ho stato nella langa due volte questo estate e poi nel Trentino con i miei parenti per alcune settimane. Magari possiamo incontrarci l'anno prossimo per un bella cena! Bienvenuti a Snooth!

Great blog you have going. I try and get back every year at least once. Your blog is a great way to stay abreast of the happenings. I look forward to hearing from you.

Ciao ciao

No idea where my Italian relatives are now though! Thanks for the Italian welcome to Snooth! As you will know, there is some good wine to be found over in the Trentino area.

Good to hear you like the Blog - I've been meaning to write something on Italian wine for a while now - Snooth has given me the encouragement I needed. I'll be bottling something shortly - once it's drinkable, I'll let you know.

A presto,

Ciao,

Alex

Alex, Check out the other forums. I've posted notes on Dorigati in wine talk.

http://www.snooth.com/talk/topic/do...

And am working through about 40 other producer visits in Piemonte and Trentino. I've gotten about 4 up I think. I want to type them over a few weeks, it brings back memories!

Would love to see more wine content on Blog from Italy!

Let me know if there's anything I can do.

Grazie mille. Anche a me, Snooth e comodo come un vecchio paio di scarpe!

Alex, Awesome stuff! Thank you so much for the kind mentions. It's great to see a fan out there spreading the news! All the writing I've been doing and your site is making me yearn for a quick visit to Piemonte. Maybe during the coll bleak month of february I will be able to steal away for a few days.

Greg, Mark - I'm going to try and have a go at using Yahoo Pipes with the Snooth API - I might be able to 'suck' info out of Snooth via this method. I have applied for an API registration.

I had a play with Pipes this evening - and I think I can do something with it. I'm no coder, though. But I'll see what I can come up with.

Cheers,

Alex
