HondaJohn in NYC ... this week.

Posted by John Andrews, Mar 31, 2009.

I'm going to be in Manhattan for work ... but might have some extra time. The schedule is in Wednesday, April 1st (no April's Fool Joke) and out Monday, April 6th.

We have a PTP tasting on Thursday - Zinfandel from 6-8 if you are free and interested.

Heh. I'll be up in NYC this weekend too. RBoulanger and I are attending this: http://www.astorcenternyc.com/class... on Friday evening.

Well, I wouldn't imagine that one class would be enough to take anyone from unprepared to prepared, but yes, that's the general idea.

When do you guys usually get started on Wine Friday? I might try to swing down if I'm done prepping for Saturday night and it's a while before 17:30 still...

Also, HondaJohn, RBoulanger and I have various plans over that weekend, I'll drop you a private message after I touch base with him.

John, I PM'd you about some things, but I really hope that you are planning on attending this:

No trip to NYC is complete without a live 5AM Formula One race over breakfast in a bar half full of Eurotrash.

Hey while you guys are in the Study at Astor Center please marvel at how well laid out it is. Somebody really gave a lot of thought to that place. I wonder who that could be....

Looks like some of my customer meetings are being rescheduled so I'll have more 'free time' than I expected.

@RBoulanger ... I am an F1 fan so I might have to do that ... but only if you can guarantee you'll be there. I don't want to be there by myself with a lot of Eurotrash.

@HondaJohn, we'll both be there, probably a bit worse for the wear, but...

@HondaJohn - Did you catch the season opener from Oz?

Jenson, Rubens, Nico & Red Bull at the front!
Mclaren, Renault & Ferrari at the back!
Regenerative braking!
Nelson Piquet crashing out!
Actual passing!
Oil and water mixing!
Dogs and cats getting along!

Everything's turned on its head now - oh, wait, Nelson Piquet was crashing out all the time last year too.

It looks like it will be a super compelling season - can't miss any of the races - especially the ones at 5 am!

@Greg ... I think I can make the PTP Zinfandel. Is it at Snooth again? Is there still space?

@RBoulanger ... saw the results but not the race ... and I think the quote from Ghostbusters was "Cats and Dogs sleeping together ... " but I digress. :-)

John you are on your own for this one... Saturday night is going to be rough. I will be in no shape to be around polite company at 4:30 AM (I doubt you will be either, but you can judge that yourself while I am sleeping it off)

HondaJohn, you missed a serious show, in that case. It still remains unclear whether Trulli or Hamilton gets the points for 3rd going into the next race. It's going to be Quite a Season. Hell, even the Brawn's 1/2 finish is in question, pending the whole diffuser appeal nonsense.

RachelNYC, sounds like a Saturday well-spent to me.

Friday's class and cocktail party were both a lot of fun (I've sparse pictures of each, to be posted later on), and it was great to see John, Rachel, Philip, and Sung all Saturday night, and then the former two (Rachel despite her assertions to the contrary) sticking it out despite the hour at the F1 race this morning!

(Notably absent with excuse: Mark. Alas!)

PS, just in case any of you are foolish/crazy/whatever enough to want more, RBoulanger and I will be hitting at least Little Branch and maybe some other Village cocktail establishments this (Sunday) evening. Touch base if you want the schedule (we haven't a clue yet, we're finally crashing now).

Some great cocktails at the event - nice to see so many Snoothers there. Thanks to Gr and RBoulanger for mixing drinks and hosting

@Greg - The Astor Center study is gorgeously well equipped. Did you visit Greystone for inspiration?
@Rachel - Surprise, surprise, you were in shape to be around polite company at 4:30 am after all!
@John - Great to see you again. Hope we've rebitten you with the F1 bug.
@Philip & Sung - Thanks for coming. Glad you had a good time

Finally, gr and I firmed up our answer to the "Little Branch: swank speakeasy or overhyped musty basement" debate and moved on to the next venue: Employees Only.
