Introduce Yourself

Snooth User: outthere

Hi I'm outthere

Posted by outthere, Apr 22, 2010.

People who know me call me Brian. I live in West Sonoma County in a small hamlet named Forestville. A lot of real good wine comes out of my neighborhood so I don't need to look far. This may have held me back a bit from becoming a more worldly wine drinker but it's a price I am willing to pay. Within spitting distance of Wind Gap, Hartford Family Winery, Dutton/Goldfield, Gary Farrell, Arista, Williams Selyem, En Route, Gracianna, Merry Edwards, Kosta Browne, Hana, Dutton Estate, Graton Ridge, Korbel, Kistler, Dellinger, Joseph Swan, Woodenhead, Pelligrini, Martinelli, Sonoma Cutrer, Saralee's Vineyard/Kunde, Rodney Strong, J, Carlisle, Rochioli, Carol Shelton, MacMurray Ranch, Hop Kiln, Copain,  Donelan/Pax et al... and those are just some of the ones I pass on a daily basis.

It's a rough life but someone has to do it. ;-)

If I post something that upsets or offends you then you probably read me wrong. I'm a real nice guy. Howdy everyone.

Hey Outthere!

Love the wineries in your neck of the woods. Some really good stuff.  Oh yeah, love Mosaic in Forrestville.  Great restaurant.

I love Sonoma wines!  And you are very luck to live there.. I have to drive over an hour to get to Sonoma! LOL!  Yes, living in California Wine country is the best.  Thanks for your listing of the various wineries... some I have not heard of and will check out.

I also really love Russian River Chards.... One of my favorites is Selby (tasting room in Healdsburg).

HondaJohn, Mosaic rocks. Best part is we can walk there from home.

napagirl68, I hear there are a few decent wineries out your way. ;-) Dutton Ranch has some of the best Chardonnay vineyards in Cali and it shows very well in Kistler, Ledson, Sonoma Cutrer, Hartford Court, Lynmar and others.

You do live in a very special place. For great wine, as well as dripping wet, darkly forested redwood winters, and numbers of what my gma and gpa used to refer to as 'real characters'... :-).  Welcome to Snooth, by the way...

Ha, my grandparents used to call them hippies. The 60's on the river was an enlightening time.

So what would we call those characters today, I wonder?

Three words about Forestville... the Farmhouse Inn.  No where else will we stay when visiting Sonoma.  We love Napa, but it is hard to beat the pace, people and wines of your neck of the woods.  There are too many great wineries to name but I agree with Martinelli and Siduri.  If you haven't tried them, check out Lynmar.
