Hello Snooth! Pinot Noirs

In your post ref  Pinot Noir I think you heavily over epmphasized the Californian Russian River wines, if you want the best outside Burgundy you'd have to include Hamilton Russel of the Eastern Cape South Africa, on good years this can be sublime.  I agree about New Zealand they make great Pinots.

So you agree the best pinot is from Burgundy?

Good call Anthony. I do love the Hamilton Russel after a few years. The oak needs to settle down and integrate but they are compelling wines and great values. I was putting together a list for gift giving and the RRV Pinot make great gifts, even when they are not the best wine in their class. Cabernet comes out tomorrow and I did include a pair from SA if you are a fan: Rust en Vredre and The Mint from Thelema. Have to go with what's relative widely available and it looks like de Toren and Vergelegen, two other mighty fine SA options, don't have good representation these days.

GdP - Nice choices on the Washington Cabs.

if you like Dunn then you should also check out the Long Shadows Feather.  The Long Shadows project matches wine makers from around the world with Washington grapes.  Feather is a Cabernet Sauvignon made by Randy Dunn.  Most people say that the Feather is more approachable than Dunn's Napa wines are on initial release.  So, buy some Long Shadows Feather and enjoy it while you let your Napa rest in the cellar!

It may be thread drift (great spoonerism for that: thrift dread), but at least we are still on wine! And thanks Lucha for reminding me of the Long Shadows Feather--too bad it is sold out every year!
