Hello Snooth!

A real beginner here, but I love discovering new wines. I need help selecting wine to go with slow roasted salmon with lemon and rosemary, corn souffle, and marinated zucchini and tomato pasta. Thanks.

Welcome Stumpie,

I can't be of much assistance with a pairing (most people would suggest white wine to go with the fish, but I prefer reds, even with salmon).

Sounds like a great meal, I could help devour it!

What wines do you enjoy?

Where are you located Stumpie?

A light red (Pinot Noir, Gamay from Beaujolais) or rich white (Chardonnay) should work well.

With that meal I'd definitely go white. Could be a nice chardonnay with both acid and some roundness of body, or even a dry riesling from Alsace or maybe (if you hunt well) North America. I wouldn't want a thin, acidic white nor a pinot. The tannins in the pinot do not match the zucchini, tomato or even lemon with my palate.

Thanks for the replies..I was thinking of a full-bodied  chardonnay, but I read somewhere that an oaky wine would not pair well with an egg dish like the corn shuffle. So any suggestions on a good chardonnay would be greatly appreciated. I know a prosecco would go with the souffle, but I'm not sure about its pairing with the lemony salmon and the pasta with zucchini. A big challenge is finding a good wine shop in rural Ohio. We are about an hour and a half from Columbus, but it's not always easy to make that trip. By the way, Stumpie is my cat's name. Here's her picture.s her picture.

There are plenty of un-oaked Chards on the market. What are shipping laws like in your State?

Chardonnay goes just fine with corn souffle.

And what big ears Stumpie has! Where'd she get her name?  Not from her ears, that's for sure.  ;-)
