I'm new to Snooth and not well versed in the world of wine. Riesling is our (my wife and I) wine of choice. Vodka is our drink of choice.
My purpose for joining Snooth is to find a source of a wine from Baden Wurttemberg in Germany owned and operated since the 1600s by the Trautwein family. My last name is Troutwine and my ancestors were from that area of Germany. Possibly a very distant cousin.
I think it would be a cool thing to have a supply of Trautwein wine for company or family gifts.
Can anyone help me find a source? Based on email with the winery, they do not currently import to the US. Any suggestions on how to get their wine over here? Chicago Western Suburb. St. Charles, IL
Thanks in advance for any help.

Welcome to the Snooth Forum, Tom. Unfortunately, I am not going to be much help for you in your quest. I do agree, that if you traced your ancestry, you would undoubtedly find a connection to this winery. So, I agree that it would be very neat for you to find a source. My best idea is to start saving up for a trip and visit there, yourself. However, there are a lot of people here here who are much more clever than me. Let's hope that somebody comes up with more expedient plan.

Mein deutsche ist viel schlecht, but if yours is better, you can try calling them directly--if that's really the winery, because the links are dead. The wine seems to be available in Germany if Wine-Searcher is to be believed. One of those Spatburgunders the hipsters are drinking. I hear it tastes a bit like Pinot Noir. ;-)
