Introduce Yourself

Hello Snooth!

Posted by dcplantus, Sep 1, 2013.

I am a humble wine drinker and maker of homemade wine. Interested in down-to-earth wines, unpretentious consumption, in pursuit of the best super tuscan as a companion to the best homemade pizza. Any tips on finding reasonable red wines, affordable, with emphasis on taste, not pedigree. Wine is like people: you like them or you don't.

I want to go to Greece and and find some noteworthy wine to import , I feel that this country has some very fine wines yet to be discovered and imported for our enjoyment! I feel strongly that this is true..

I am in Troy, Michigan. I am Romanian and grew up drinking homemade wine, which I now make myself. I don't know a great deal about the art of wine tasting/drinking. Rather I drink it to celebrate the grape. My favorite wines are Sangiovese, though I don't like all brands. love the super tuscan Gran Sasso, Cecchi, and the Bela Sera Merlot. Because I drink wine everyday, I have to get the more economical brands.

How about you?

Now you're talking. It's all about the Black Sea, I think, which is common to Romania (that would be me). I love the Thracians, who were great vintners in that area. Can't remember the last time I had a Greek wine; but I did save the bottle:).

I am a Londoner and I like all sorts of wine but I only drink one or two bottles a week.I tend to have something different each time although they are mainly French.France produces an incredible variety of wines

Recommend to me a nice red French wine. I never drink white. I do like bourdeaux but they are rather scarce in Michigan. One day I may send you a bottle of my homemade wine.

I guess I am out of my element here.

Good luck with your wine experience.

Cheers

DCP, sorry to be late to the party, but let me mention this wine.  I don't know if you have a Costco near you, or, equally important, whether you are a member, but I have been able to get a terrific Tuscan called Badiola, a Sangiovese/Merlot blend, for $10.
