Hello Snooth!

My name is Serban, from Bucharest, Romania, wine lover for a long time:-) more dedicated for almost 4 years. I work as a professional coach and I was influenced in wine tasting by one my main coaching clients now best wine friend. I like red wines, having Bulgaria very close I taste often that region.

Cheers,

Weclome to the Snooth Forum, Serban.  It's been a while since we've had a correspondent in your area, but we are very interested in your wine scene.

There are some Snooth participants from England who seem to be able to procure wines from areas like Croatia, but I have to say they are hard to find here in the U.S.  However, the world gets smaller every day.  So, that will change.

There are a lot of red wine lovers here, and from your introduction it sounds like you are enjoying Bulgarian reds.  What kind of Bulgarian wines are you enjoying?

Thanks Emark, it is funny that I talk about Bulgarian wines, instead of ours:-) But they are somehow better... So I would say Enira Reserve is very good 2006, Midalidare has some awesome coupages, I will make a list later of my first 5 preferences.

Cheers,

Serban

We look forward to hearing more, Serban.

Pardon my ignorance, but can you tell us more about the two wines you mentioned?  Am I correct in assuming that "Enira" and "Midalidare" are the makers?  I apologize if I sound ignorant, but I guess I am.

Hi,

actually you are good:-) Enira is a brand of Bessa Valley, south part Bulgaria, the Reaserve 2006 is a coupage of Merlot with Cabernet Sauvignon and Petit Verdot. Midalidare is the winnery, quite new and small, they have excellent reds, like the Cabernet Sauvingnon with Petit Verdot 2010 for example.

I will come back with some pictures, thanks for asking me.

Today we have a limited wine tasting in Bucharest, here is the wine list and what we serve at

1. Gevrey-Chambertin Chardonnay 2000

( fois gras with figs )

2. Chablis Grand Cru 2007  ( salmon tart)

3 Aloixe Corton Pinot Noir

(veal mignon with truffles and purple potatoes)

4  Oprisor Cabernet Savignion 2009

(duck's breast with grapesi, wild rice with caramel sauce)

5 Flamboyant 2009

(Lamb chops with green asparagus)

Pictures will follow, last 2 wines are Romanian, last one is a 90 points, and the Cabernet probably 89.

Cheers,

Serban

Serban, that tasting you attended sounded wonderful.  Most of us would love to do tastings like that.
