Introduce Yourself

Hello Snooth!

I'm new to the site and am looking for advice on wine pairings.  I've had some excellent wines, but have not chosen them myself so I am eager to learn more.  Can someone please suggest a couple of good wines I can serve at a dinner party this week.  I'm serving grilled Moroccan Lamb Chops.  Thanks :)

For a red I would offer any right bank claret ie merlot dominated. For a white, especially if the lamb is spiced I would offer a Vouvray demi-sec or an off dry reisling from Germany or Alsace

Boy, I think you friends are pretty lucky.  Not to cause confusion or conflict, but my knee-jerk response to lamb is cabernet sauvignon.  So , I would normally suggest that you cross the river and look for a left bank example.

However, I'm not going to do that.
A few years ago my wife wanted to create a Moroccan feast and invite friends over.  We did not have lamb--some salads, Bastilla, Couscous, Lemon/Olive Chicken.  We had an array of wines.  Everybody brought some.  The consensus favorite with that meal was a California Nebbiolo.  You could try an old world version  from Piedmont, but the California ones, to me seem to have a raisiny hint that really complemented the spices.
I am pretty excited to hear what you try and how it worked.  Please come back here and fill us in after your dinner.

Hello EMark - Thank you for the reply.  Your Moroccan feast sounds divine!  I was happy to hear your suggestion of the Nebbiolo!  I've done some research already and, from what I've read about it, I am probably going to go with that.  I will let you know how it was.
