I'm living in Japan. I gave out my location info to be able to get info on locating good wine in my area. I hope it works.
My interest is in finding imported or domestic Cabs that are decent quality and won't destroy a teacher's budget. If any of you are in or near Fukushima Prefecture, I would love to hear from you.
My wife is a white Zinfandel wine addict and always looking for bargains. Some times we see pretty good wines over here, but much of our shopping is hit or miss as we try new labels.

Hello boberator, and welcome to Snooth! I'm located in Tokyo (have been on and off for more years than I care to remember), and occasionally make it up to Fukushima to help with NPO work. Trust you're having a good time up there, even amidst the difficulties.
I haven't tried to use the retail locator functionality of Snooth for awhile, and don't know how well it works for Japan. Regardless of its efficacy, you can gain many other things from the site, particularly from participation in this Forum.
When you say 'domestic' cab you're meaning Japanese? What kinds of cabs from whichever country and region have you enjoyed? Give us some indicators of your tastes and we can provide better recommendations for you. And does you wife like dry roses as well as more typical white zins?
Finally (and I suppose this depends on how serious you want to get about particular types of wine you may want to buy), have you considered online wine purchases from overseas sites? They can often provide better choices at lower prices (and better bottle condition) than what's available locally in brick-and-mortar shops in Fukushima, even Tokyo, or on Japanese domestic online vendors' sites. If managed carefully overseas procurement can be economical, even considering shipping costs and value-added tax (shohizei) upon entering Japan. And if you want to make purchasing runs up to Tokyo I can recommend a few wine shops with better selection and prices than the average.
If you are interested in ordering from overseas, here's a useful list from my experience of Quality online wine merchants, most who ship internationally.

Welcome to the Snooth Forum, Bob. Fortunately, we have our Snooth man in Japan, DM, to give you good advice.
