Heading for Harvest - Help!

Posted by Erica Landin, Sep 6, 2012.

This year I'm doing my first harvest, at Domaine Duseigneur in southern Rhone. Being quite the office person (journalist - look at those lilly-white computer hands), I'm not sure what to expect precisely. Have any of you participated in a wine harvest? Do you have any tips? Things to bring, what to wear, how to avoid looking like the worst newbie ever?

Also, on the positive side, what have you loved about harvest time? I'm looking forward to the communal dinners after a hard day's work.

Wear a pair of comfortable water resistant boots, such as Redback, and don't wear anything you are afraid of staining with juice.

Just go with the flow and have fun, but that's a given.

That's a given indeed. I'm really excited.

Now off to waterproof my old hiking boots.

Are their fruits grown on bush vines? If so, you might need something for your back or knee. :-)

I think I will be a ruined mess in no-time! Such a whimp...

The fun thing is I already got the winemaker to join snooth - bduseigneur. Not sure I'll get him to post but do follow him!
