Fette Sau - Brooklyn

Posted by Philip James, Nov 23, 2008.

I popped in here mid afternoon today. It opens at 5pm, and by 5.05 there were already 15 people lining up for food. Its not cheap for a place that uses paper plates and serves the meat on a piece of greased paper, but its sure tasty:

Wine pairing? Unknown, but they do some good beers there.

Highly recommended

Did you get the bacon ("pork belly")? I still dream of their bacon.

you know that place? cool... didnt realize you ever ventured across the river.

No, not this time, but i have had it before. This time it was brisket, pulled pork, ribs and links (pork sausages that ive never seen before), served with the beans, potato salad and the standard soft bread roll.

Going to Fette Sau is actually my one and only Billyburg experience. Have you tried Hill Country BBQ? They have great brisket.

Hill Country is very solid BBQ. Certainly the best in Manhattan. Good BBQ prime rib too but the real test of a BBQ place is their beef ribs. Fette Sau won the beef rib-off. I haven't been in over a year but this makes me think it may be time to go again!

Wine pairing- Give me a bottle of fine, earthy, high acid barbera.

Delicious. I think we have a new thing to try - BBQ Fridays!

Even The New Yorker is interested in bbq these days -

Coming from someone that grew up on bbq, my all time favorite is Goode Co. in Houston (Kirby location of course) -
