Is anyone out there lovers of Fernet Branca? It has become sort of a cult-like spirit from my neck of the country. I prefer my deeply chilled and straight up.
Some of us have come to refer to it as "Bong in the Bottle", because of its herbal taste and high-type buzz after a few shots.
Any other stories/comments about this? Is their any types of cocktails you like to make with it?

Fernet is my favorite digestif. Easily.

I just read an article about it today and it's popularity in San Francisco. I love generally all types of amaro but fernet is a little rough for me. It's hardcore!

I love Fernet Branca too.
There are actually a range of cocktails that you can use it in. For starters, you can drink it like the Argentines and by adding coke to it.
The eponymous Fernet Branca cocktail has 3 parts gin, 1 part sweet vermouth and 1 part Fernet stirred with ice and strained. Similarly 4 parts bourbon, 2 parts sweet vermouth and 1 part Fernet over crushed ice will make you a Fanciulli cocktail.
A really popular Fernet cocktail that is popping up in a lot of bars is the Toronto. 2 parts rye, 1/4 part Fernet, 1/4 part simple sugar stirred and strained with ice and a dash of Angostura bitters.
Or cruise over to Snooth's sister site, the spir.it, and check out their list of Fernet cocktails:

So, San Francisco is the biggest consumer of fernet, but sells the least... : )
that was a little bar riddle...
it's mainly consumed by bartenders, and very little of it actually gets sold in the bars.... i don't particularly care for the stuff, but find myself always taking shots of it behind the bar, and shots with my frinds that bartend, when i'm visiting them, behind their bar....
and i heard that there's caffeine in it....?
