What is your favorite wine? By any parameters you choose, what is your ultimate favorite?

Whenever I am asked this question I always have the same reply, "What's the food?".  Wine on it's own is like an old bachelor.....something's missing.

A smooth and fruity white blend and a really good book....to me that's luxury.  (says the mom of a teen aged girl).  I probably drink 25% of my wine sans cuisine.

Too many great wines to make such a subjective decision

Some favoutites

96 Salon Champagne is hard to beat

90 Chateau D'Yquem Sauterne

99 Domaine Armand Rousseau Clos St Jacques - Red Burgundy

90 Penfolds Grange Shiraz [Aust]

96 Wynns John Riddoch Cabernet Sauvignon [Coonawarra - Aust]

02 Grossett Polish Hill Riesling [Clare - Aust]

03 Trimbach Clos St Hune Riesling [Alsace]

Best US wine [Sorry but we don't get a lot here, and apologies if description is a bit vague]

98 Fays St Leaps Cellars Cabernet Sauvignon

98 Chalk Hill Chardonnay

Unfortunately not much Spanish and Italian experience, although had a couple of great Barolo's but can't remember the names

Interesting that you would choose two wines from the 98 vintage, which was, well, pretty terrible.

Chalk Hil may have been 99 or 00 drank in 02 same with Stags Leap but it was a 98 maybe the memory is fading with time and I do not have a lot of US experience to benchmark against as it is hard to source much in Aust unless you really go looking for it.

Too many contradictions in last sentence, particularly to much at your finger tips, if that is trouble then its my type of trouble

Well guys I guess I have the same problem! As a manager of an upscale liquor store major wines are always at my finger tips also, and yes I usually taste the 1st of anything I order in. Favorites run the scale I think. Anything from Antinori, Two hands Bad Impersonator, Ares, Sebeka Cabernet Pinotage, Opus 1, Mendoza Malbecs, vintage Ports, Erath-Cambria-Domaine Carneros Pinot Noirs, anything from Kim Crawford, Beaujolais, Pouilly Fuisse Trimback whites......Gonna stop now LOL!

my favorite wine..... usually what ever happens to be in my glass  : ) Gotta agree withStevenBabb!
