Fathers Day

Posted by spikedc, Jun 20, 2011.

Fathers Day here in the UK yesterday, nice day with the family, ended up with a bottle of Majella 'The Musician' Cabernet Shiraz, Muga Rioja Blanco and a Brancott Estate Sauvignon Blanc looking forward to trying them all.

Fathers Day not until August in Australia

Brancott is part of the Pernod empire and is a "servicable" NZSB, they do a single vineyard one which not sure how it is labelled in UK, that is much better than standard.

Majella are good Coonawarra winemakers and the Musician is their entry level, usually a good drop without pretending to be too serious, I quite like it

What years?

Hopefully they are all good drinks for the day

Got served lots of tapas on Sunday in Tokyo--from bacalao croquettes and bacalao bean salad to octopus tempura, sardines grilled in a casing of seasoned salt, caracoles (escargot to some) and dried-beef-and-sausage stew. Txacoli from Spain and vinho verde from Portugal in the way of whites, and Colheita reds from Portugal. A most pleasant afternoon with my daughters....

Was hot here (mid 90's). We took the kayaks out and paddled the river all day, chilled on the back patio with some strawberry margaritas and then popped a cold bottle of Copain P2 to go with our baby back ribs. What an awesome day it was!
