Got his sent by a friend who knows I love motorcycles and wine (no, not at the same time). Here is the text from the website:
"HERE’S TO DESMOROSSO, DUCATI’S VERY OWN RED WINE
The Desmorosso wine (2006 vintage) was launched at the Bologna factory’s Ducati Museum in March. This highly sophisticated cuvée was created especially to communicate Ducati’s excellence through wine.
It is a genuine, fine wine collection that bears the DesmoRosso label: not just an attractive licensing project but also a brand representing the typical values of Italian-made goods, namely flair and attention to detail.
Motorcycling enthusiasts all over the world can now taste a wine called “Desmo”, a name synonymous with Ducati genius, the glorious tradition of the company and the originality of its products. The brand - evocative of power, drive and personality - can now be identified with the same values but in a completely different sector, i.e. wine, another product of the Italian land and traditions.
“When Ducati decided to make its mark in the wine industry, too - explains Paolo Bari, owner of JPBari, Desmorosso’s distributor - it wanted to find a partner that reflected all the inherent characteristics of the Desmo name: creativity and attention to detail, innovation and tradition, business skills and the search for the highest quality, a passion for good looks and a taste for things well made. In a word: excellence.”
“Desmorosso is the result of a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Carmenère grapes.” - describes Paolo Padrin, owner of Le Pignole di Brèndola where the wine is produced. “It is elegant and powerful, fine and structured, full of character, undeniably Italian and the perfect representation of Italy around the world.”
“Desmorosso” was also promoted at Vinitaly 2008 in Verona and will be available exclusively online via the website http://www.desmorosso.com from mid-April - priced at €28 per bottle. It will also be sold by the glass at “Gold”, the famous Milan nightspot."
For those don't know about Ducati I would equate them to the 'Apple' of the motorcycle world. They try do different things and have a cult like following. They consider themselves a lifestyle choice so I would expect the wine to be pretty good.
It isn't on Snooth yet. I'd be interested to find out more so if any of our European Snoothers see it can you share some info?
