Drink Greg's Wine October 20th 2011

Original post by Gregory Dal Piaz, Sep 26, 2011.

Starting a new thread to help keep track of all this.

So we're going to drink some wine, in NYC.

I spent Saturday inventorying part of the cellar and picked up some nice bottles for sharing. I'm looking forward to diving into a nice chunck of wines so the more the merries here, to a point.

So far it seems we have

Myself

GregT

Foxall

Let's so who else is interested in joining us!

Good to have you MReff, as GDP said, the more the merrier, to a point.  Still seems like a couple more people would be nice, but having at least 6 attend is nice.

So is the streaming only to 'the board', Greg?

Nice, relaxed gettogether, eh?  I'll guess Foxall is the one trying to dodge the camera... ;-)

Don't mention it D, we don't want any performance anxiety to build up...

Guess I'll be spitting instead of drinking.  Wouldn't want my debut to be a drunken ramble a la John Riggins or Hank Williams Jr.

My image is out there in the world.  Heck, I was in a movie that showed at the Cardiff Film Festival.  But I'm not the handsome guy I once was. ;-)

Fox, were you an actor or an extra? ;)

We're just a week away tomorrow, and we're countin' down!

Any more thought to the flights Greg?

I'm not really sure, certainly will have some interesting wines. I'm in Italy this week so a little sketchy on what's at home but the bottles mentioned earlier are robably going to be the line-up, could change a bit.

What time should we be there?

SLH: An actor, not an extra, but not well remunerated for it.  Friend put together a feature length film to showcase some writing.  I'd done something similar before.  If you look hard (actually, not that hard) you can actually watch it, or the clip. I was also in a site-specific performance with the French director Veronique Guillaud.  It led to this famous postcard (I am NOT one of the nuns):

I've actually never been an extra, although my wife had a pretty good moment as one in a horrible movie with Darryl Hannah called "Wildflowers."  There's a scene where my wife is dancing and DH walks by--it was shot at the Fillmore in SF. Doubtless more people saw that than the things I was in, even bad as it was...

Wait, the picture didn't make it:

I'm definitely going to hunt the movie down if I'm given the title.

May I also reiterate how jealous I am of everyone that has the time and means to get to NYC next Thursday for this tasting?

C'mon, you don't expect me to make it that easy!  But there's a website that has information on almost every movie and actor who was in any production that made it as far as a film festival, commercial (even video only) release, etc.  Hint: My handle here is not a common name.  And it's not made up from whole cloth.

Okay, I'll make it easy:  Here's a webpage devoted to the movie.

And if you believe that, I've got a case of Thomas Jefferson's wine to sell you.  The label that says Costco is just to keep the thieves away...

SLH: Yeah, it should be a fun time...i'd be jealous too but at least you'll be able to view it live ; )

OK, Mr. District Attorney.

No, not Claude Rains or Paul Henreid or Bogey. And I'd definitely fight you for Ingrid.

BTW, there were 16 different Foxalls listed at IMDB. Not as few as you might think...

Aww, d, that's no fair, you (and JD) know my full name.  And JD knows what I look like, so he's got that right.

You know, it's been far too long since I've imbibed with you, Greg. But must you choose a school night?! I'm a grownup now, with early-morning responsibilities and stuff. Although come to think of it, I have about a hundred vacation days that need using before the end of the year...hmmm.

Come on down! We're all old, some of us are even adults, so don't expect this to run into the wee wee hours. This should be fun!
