Do Cellared Wines Remain in the My Wines List after a Merge?
Posted by colinrchorley, Apr 11.

Hello,

My wine list has gone down from 217 to 215 but I have not removed any wines from my list at all. I know if a wine has been reviewed and its then merged with another wine, the review carries over into the new wine but does that also apply to wines which are cellared? Otherwise do you have any ideas why I would lose 2 wines?

Cheerss,
Colin

Colin - merging *should* carry everything across perfectly. Including images, reviews, any more detailed region info and so on. Do you know which wine might be affected - we'll take a look at that specific one to check.

If there is an error, the information is not lost - it would be contained under the sku that was marked inactive, so one way or another we'll get to the bottom of this.

Thanks

OK, many thanks. No idea at the moment which ones have been removed but will have a look and see if I can find which ones they are and let you know.

Cheers,
Colin

OK, found them (would be near the bottom of my list wouldn't it :-)).

Wolf Blass Red Label Chardonnay Semillon 2005
Wolf Blass Grey Label Cabernet Sauvignon 2004

Can't even find them on the main site let alone my list.

I think I know whats happened. Someone or something (I think the latter is more likely) has merged these 2 wines with ones already in my list.

Wolf Blass Red Label Chardonnay Semillon 2005 merged with Wolf Blass Presidents Selection Chardonnay 2005

Wolf Blass Grey Label Cabernet Sauvignon 2004 merged with Wolf Blass Presidents Selection Cabernet Sauvignon 2004.

I can tell as the Cab Sav now has a cellar tick when I don't have it in the cellar yet for the Grey Label I did. And the review I did for the Red Label in Dec 2008 is now appearing in the Presidents Selection Chardonnay where it now has 2 separate reviews by me.

Thing is I can remember now, this has happened before with these 2 wines and I had to recreate them and delete the review which shouldn't be there so am thinking this is something that an auomated process is causing?

Hey Colin, it's definitely possible an algorithm merged these. We'll take a look and figure out a good solution to this. We've still got all of the data, so it's just a matter of investigating.

Hello Mark, exactly the same issue listed above has happened again. I added the Wolf Blass Grey Label Cabernet Sauvignon 2004 manually again yesterday and reviewed it at 16:10 BST (it still shows up as this in my profile) but click the link and it reverts to the Preseidents Selection Cabernet Sauvignon 2004 so if this is something that is automatic then its still an issue (unless someone has manually merged these of course, would you be able ot see if thats the case?).

Oh, I see. Looks like I found the algorithm that did this. I've unmerged the wines, and you should be able to see the wine and your review again.

Drop me a message if those two wines merge again.

Perfect, looks good from here. I'll add the other one in again in the next few days and if that also merges again with the Presidents Chardonnay I'll let you know too. Cheers.
