Dinner in New Jersey

At the Ribera Tasting in NYC last night, Andrea and I bumped into Greg T.  We got around to talking about a dinner at Culinariane, Montclair, NJ.  His eyes lit up when we told him what a wonderful job they do with venison.   Montclair is a BYO Mecca.  There are very few liquor licences and many great restaurants.  Culinariane - - is a tough ticket (best new restaurant in NJ 5 years ago - perennial "Best of" winner) but can be reserved in advance.   It is even easy to get to from Penn Station - just 2 blocks from the Walnut Street stop on the "Montclair-Boonton line. Who's interested?

When did you guys get there? I was there for several hours during the day but left just after 5pm so they could start cleaning the room for the evening tasting.


Depending when I might be interested but with my schedule it will be tough.

Hi Greg,

We got there around 5:30 and closed the place with Greg T.  Kept sampling long after the reps had left.  (Greg made us do it.)

I did not throw out any dates yet - wanted to gauge interest first.  Both the owners, Ariane and Michael Duarte are grads of the CIA.  We can give them a wine theme and they would develop a menu to go along with it.  Andrea brought her CEO group here for their holiday party and they are still raving about it.

BTW, I saw GdP there but he pretended he didn't know me.

But it would be a great idea as long as transportation is convenient. Venison would be awesome. All depends on the date, but if I'm around, I'm in.
