Considering myself at home!

Hi friends! I'm not all that new to the site but I am to the forums part. Just wanted to give a shout out to my fellow oenephiles and find out which of the forums is the best to check out(so many, so little time)?

This one.  I'm not sure why the site is balkanized so that the articles have a separate forum.  But it harms the user experience and makes those less useful and less integrated.  So just stay here.  And welcome.

Welcome! This forum is generally a good place to start when coming to Snooth. There are also usually active conversations going on in the Wine Articles section, and if you add enough friends, your profile page can become a great way to see what's happening on Snooth. To GregT's comment, we have plans to make it easier to see everything that's going on at-a-glance, but until then those are the top 3 places I'd recommend starting your daily social wine fix.  Cheers!

Vawineaux, welcome. I strongly second Greg's recommendation.

Solo, the 'converstions' in the Articles section don't usually involve all that much interaction, but are usually just single posts by a few (and only occasionally more) people on the subject of the article. They don't really qualify, thus, as a forum. This is the Forum, and threads on specific subjects can have legs that go on for months or even years, and triple-figure posts here.

It really is a shame that the subject matter of the articles is taken off into a separate space, and after a small or medium sized flurry of interest, is allowed to die. I view the fact that the articles have been 'balkanized', to use Greg's term, as a major design flaw on Snooth's part, and something you'll need to fix if you want to get the most out of your intellectual content and social linkages that once initiated over there then just plain evaporate. Somehow you need to pull those articles back into this, the real forum.

And how exactly does your profile page allow you to see what's going on? It's a reference point on a person and their interests in wine, but interaction takes place here. Any private messaging that goes on isn't a 'forum', and the group activity is, again, minimal at best, at present...

To use your profile page to get a sense of what your friends are doing on Snooth, view your profile while you're logged in and scroll down to the section titled "Your Recent Activity on Snooth."

Yes, as I said, it's a reference point on a person. That's not what I meant by 'what's going on', though I can see how it might in your use of the phrasing. We're talking about two different things. I was talking about a forum for discussion of news and ideas. Personally, the info on what others might be doing at that moment is of nowhere near as much import as what they have to share in the forum.

Welcome to Snooth. Great pick, whats all that wine I spy in the background? This is a great place to hang out and chat, trade idea, complain about the site ( which we really don't mind but even little changes can take a tremendous amount of work so please be patient, we're listeneing!).

Anyway, another Virginia wine lover? Any favorite wines you can share with us?

Thanks ya'll for the mad love! I guess I'll have to make this my starting place and go on from here. Greg, the wine in the profile pic is from November 2008 's wine tasting I put on at the wine store I work in. One of my personal fav's from that night(but a customer bust!) is the Jean-Marc Burgaud Cote du Py. It's a shame I've still got some on the shelf from that very night!  Wonder if it goes with Chinese...might find out tonight and let ya'll know. Anyhoo, I've got a bunch of cases to go stock right now, but I'll holla back at you cats later. BTW guys, what are some of the wines that make you tick?
