Christoph von Nell Riesling Halbtrocken Deutscher Sekt 2002

Details for Christoph Von Nell Riesling Halbtrocken Deutscher Sekt 2002

A beautiful, tasty, well priced sparkler that's looks like it will be very hard to find in a store. I did some checking and found that its generally loved by those that review it (http://brooklynguyloveswine.blogspo... and and that the only place I could find in NYC is Chambers (well done to Lyle for buying it), but that apparently the importers are having trouble placing it.

A real shame, people should try it - its a great wine.

A vintage Sekt, very interesting, you don´t find many of those outside from Germany. The big "Sekt" (German sparkling wine) producers produce for the masses and usually no quality at all. Von Nell is a smaller producer from the Ruwer Region who is one of the few in Germany who uses the "methode traditionelle" for their Sekt production.
The Ruwer region in total has less then 200 ha of vines. Of course there is not much wine left for the export market, which explains why you don´t find that many outside of Germany.

I just was on the website of this beautiful winery:
They have a small hotel and a restaurant as well. As I am planning a wine tour at the mosel region in fall I will definitely stay there for a night. Can´t wait for the German food accompanied by a Ruwer Riesling!
