Cellar/Ratings/Wishlist not working; iPod app doesn't list all wines

Posted by Val13, Nov 25, 2011.

I've tried emailing a couple of times with no response, so I'll post here.

My first problem is using the "Ratings/Wishlist/Cellar" function when I access my account on my Mac desktop computer via Safari or Chrome. When I log on to Snooth, I click on the "My Wines" link on the pull down menu. I get a screen stating that I have 273 wines listed. My goal in keeping these listed on Snooth is to be able to access ratings, wishlist, or cellar quickly, without having to page through all 200+wines. In the past, I have used the "Refine Search" button, but sadly, it is not working now!

I click on the "check box" for Cellar, for instance, and then "Refine Search" button...and my cellar does not come up. Same for Ratings and Wishlist...they sometimes will come up, sometimes not, and when they do come up the lists are empty.

My iPod Snooth app works much better in this regard...but does not include all of my wines; it lists about 20 fewer wines total (ratings/wishlist/cellar) than are accessible via the desktop.

And don't even get me started on the "Wine Rack" doesn't seem to logically tie in to my account, and lists 2 bottles in my cellar when there are really 3, etc.

Please help; I have really enjoyed Snooth in the past and don't want to change to another software. If you think paying for Snooth Pro would help, let me know; however, I don't want to pay for a service that doesn't work.

All very legitimate concerns, and gripes that have been expressed before. Would be good to see some response from the IT group at Snooth about these.

And no, don't pay for an app that doesn't work!

Hi Val - very sorry for the inconvenience. We're going to take a look today. We'll be back soon with some constructive feedback and fixes. Thanks for your patience and stay tuned!

Just a quick update - I'm working on a fix in the search index that will fix the Cellar search in my-wines.  Unfortunately this is taking longer than I would like, as the search index software is updating rather slowly.   I will continue post a updates here as the situation improves.

Thanks for the reply. Please let me know when it's fixed. As of now, the old list of wines/reviews and the new list are still not matching up completely.

Val - I just tried out the iphone app again, after correcting some issues with my-wines search, and it seems to show the correct counts for everything, as long as the wine has been rated, wishlisted, or cellared.  I do have the newest version of the app - when you start it, and tap on "My Snooth", it should re-sync all of your wines with the Snooth database.

I am noticing that this doesn't include generically "marked" wines that are of interest to you, but aren't wishlisted, in your cellar, or rated.  I would recommend wishlisting them for now, and I will put in a note to fix the app so that it shows the marked wines in a fourth category.   It may take a lot longer to update the app due to the complexity involved.

Curious to hear how Wine Rack doesn't logically tie - I did fix your cellar count there - any other specifics would be very helpful for improving the site.

Ok, I gave it some time and came back. Deleted some wines, re-rated and re-wishlisted others. Trying to make it so every wine is either rated, wishlisted, or cellared.

Ipod sync/counts now work fine.

Cellar search function on "My Wines" web page works fine.

Ratings search function on "My Wines" works fair; included 2 non-rated but wishlisted wines for some odd reason.

Wishlist search function on "My Wines" still not working. Brings up the message, "1-0 of 58 wines."

Wine Rack cellar count is correct; total and wishlist not a match from what I can tell (again, can't bring up wishlist by itself on My Wines page so not sure what the actual count is.

Any other help would be appreciated.

Thanks Val, I'll take another look at ratings/wishlist on my-wines.  It's becoming apparent that we may need to rethink our strategy for how that page is built so that the results appear more reliably.
