Introduce Yourself

Brooklyn wine guy from France

I'm new to the site (as a member). I have known about Snooth for some time and am now getting a sense for how amazing of a resource it can be. I have worked in wine in the past and have always wanted to find my way back into the industry one way or another.

I am thinking about opening a wine store at the moment or... well, now I am more and more unclear about what that or could be, but I might have to figure it out if I don't open up shop.

Hope to meet more wine drinkers, industry professionals and share appreciation for my favorite drink after water.

Very pleased to meet you, Henry.  We look forward to learning from you.

I am sure that a lot of Snooth regulars who are local to you will be glad to encourage you with a wine enterprise.  I wish you luck in your endeavor,

Henry - you're originally from France or somewhere else? Where in Bkn are you?

Brooklyn's got a few good bottle shops already, but I always welcome anyone with passion and persistence to try their hand.

Welcome to Snooth.  Let us know where your wine adventures take you.

@ Greg, Born in NYC, but raised most my life outside of Paris (Les Yvelines). I'm out on Bushwick side of Brooklyn at the moment.

@Foxall, there are definitely some quality wine shops in NYC and many doing a great job, but there are still a few underserved neighborhoods and areas where a liquor store serving wine does not suffice for the oenophile :)

Thanks for the warm welcome and definitely look forward to sharing my adventures with the community.

Welcome aboard Henry, good luck with getting back in the wine industry...what were some of the french wines/labels you favored while in France?

Welcome, Henry! I've noticed a need for good wine stores in some sections of Queens. Might be a good place to start unless you've already got a few neighborhoods in mind.

Looking forward to hearing more about your wine experience!

@Jonderry, there are so many great wines/ and vineyards in France... The list would be long, but I would say that if you have not had wine from the Cahors region, you should definitely give it a shot. The region had some tough times recently, but the malbecs are definitely worth a shot!

@Clare, thanks for the heads up for Queens. I will do a bit of a research, but may be thinking of a few other neighborhoods...
