Brescia 2011 - European Wine Blogger's Conference

Posted by Gregory Dal Piaz, Oct 14, 2011.

Yup, that's where I'm at, though instad of at the conference I'm actually typing up articles in my hotel room. Actualy just wrapped that up so I can go and rejoin the conference, and at least get a good winery visit/dinner in tonight!

Not all was lost though, I spent a day in Trentino visting a pair of wineries, Gino Pedrotti who makes a wonderful Vino Santo, yes it's a real wine in Trentino, and a really lovely set of whites and reds, all organice, natural yeast, bleh la la, and it shows, and the wines are the better for it.

Also stopped by San Leonardo,  a Trentino icon of sorts. Not similar to Pedrotti in any way other than the attention to detail that each pays to their wines. The weather has been exceptional, food good, all signs point to yes as the crazy 8 ball would say and the internets at the hotel in Brescia even failed last night so I was saved for 20 hours from this haunting!

I'll write up my visits, and realise I should have taken better pictures while I was there but something inside me said that i would have enjoyed the day less if I had spent time taking more pictures so we may have to suffer through some rather disappointing images. I hope to at least be able to tell the story well!

So will you be talking more about the wines from those two Trentino producers?

And the images in this post are, yes, disappointing... ;-)

Well, thanks for suffering for the rest of us.  We'll toast in a week in NYC. I'm sure we'll hear more about it before that.
