LONG ISLAND WINE COUNTRY, NY
As the Summer season continues to roll out a beautiful red carpet for what promises to be a gorgeous Autumn, Long Island’s twin forks are gearing up for a spectacular Fall extravaganza: The First Annual HARVEST East End (presented by Wine Spectator, organized by the Long Island Merlot Alliance and the Long Island Wine Council). On September 24th and 25th, the wineries of Eastern Long Island (including Borghese Vineyard) invite you to tour the vineyards, explore local flavors, and bid on exceptional, food-friendly wines from one of the world’s most exciting, emerging regions. And, it’s not just fun and games: HARVEST East End benefits East End Hospice and the Peconic Land Trust.
The weekend’s events (happening all over the East End, but here featuring Borghese Vineyard specifics) include:
· 10-Mile Dinners (Various Dinners at Various Locations Offered Friday Evening) - Exclusive vintner dinners in beautiful private East End locations.
o Only 10 tickets are available for each 10-Mile Dinner, and are $350 per person.
o The Castello di Borghese 10-Mile Dinner will be hosted at the home of owners Marco and Ann Marie Borghese, and it features renowned chef Eberhard Müller of Satur Farms, formerly Executive Chef at Le Bernardin, Lutece and Bayard’s, NYC.
· The Wine Salon (Various Programs at Various Locations Offered All Day Saturday) - An educational and intellectual journey around the region.
o Drink in knowledge on winemaking and tasting, food-and-wine pairing, and more in Wine Salon programs at wineries and other locations across the East End. Unless indicated, tickets are $25 per person per program.
o Castello di Borghese is proud to offer as our Wine Salon program, “What Grows Together Goes Together,” a truly local taste of the East End with renowned chef, restaurateur and author Tom Schaudel. In an afternoon of food, wine and excerpts from his book, Playing with Fire: Whining and Dining on the Gold Coast, Chef Schaudel, will give a cooking demo while you enjoy Borghese’s award-winning wines. Chef Schaudel also will also be available to sign his book.
· Festival Tasting, Gala Dinner, and Live Auction (Saturday Evening at Wolffer Estate Vineyards) - A grand tasting followed by a farm-to-table dinner, featuring the first-ever opportunity to garner top Long Island wines for your collection, while making a contribution to two important local charities the Peconic Land Trust and East End Hospice.
o The event will offer more than 100 exceptional silent auction lots during the Festival Tasting. And HARVEST culminates in a premier, high-energy live auction, led by auctioneers from Morrell & Co. Fine Wine Auctions and Zachys Wine Auctions, as part of the Gala Dinner. Wine.
o Ann Marie & Marco Borghese have reserved a Borghese Vineyard table at the Gala Dinner and Live Auction and invite you to join them! Castello di Borghese has also donated a Half-Barrel Lot of Borghese 2008 Merlot to the auction. As the winning bidder of the auction, the wine will be delivered to you as 12 cases of 750ml bottles with a custom label as owners of this exclusive offer.
Marco and Ann Marie Borghese invite you to take part in all that Borghese Vineyard and Long Island Wine Country have to offer by joining us for any or all of these special events.
