Bordeaux 2008 video

Posted by panoskakaviatos, Mar 19, 2011.

Coming back to Bordeaux 2008, because Decanter magazine published results of a blind tasting of St Emilion 2008 which I took part in. The overall favorite was Beausejour Duffau Lagarrosse, but I also liked Troplong Mondot, Grand Mayne, Figeac, Magdelaine and Clos Fourtet. Canon was also good but a tad closed. Then also Dassault was good, as were Bellefort Belcier, Fleur Cardinale, Saint Georges Cote Pavie and Cap de Mourlin. The la Clotte was not bad either, a lesser known St Emilion. In any case, as 2010 promises to be very expensive a la 2009, one can still find relative deals in 2008. I found it particularly interesting that the 2008s from bottle in January this year were sometimes a bit closed down and inexpressive, especially compared to the 2007s from bottle tasted last year. But I think that the 2008s will prove better in the longer run, as they have more concentration and longer finishes. Also the Sauternes and Barsac are very good. Anyway, here a video I just put together.
