BC wines

Posted by fridaynitewinelover, Apr 24, 2011.

I'm new to this site and looking forward to learing about the many wines available, grape types etc. but I'm wondering why the site doesn't include any wines from Canada, specifically British Columbia wines from the Okanagon?

Welcome to Snooth, FNWL. Actually there've been a number of threads in the past on Canadian wines, from the Okanagan, Niagara Bench and elsewhere. Use that search box over on the right....

But in the meantime feel free to ask any questions here, too.

Thanks for the info. I was more inquiring about Canadian wines not being an option for a person's profile when they first join but I guess there are other countries not listed as well so I guess I shouldn't take it personally.

Thanks for writing FNWL.  We're not trying to be biased against any country in particular, but there was only so much room for specific countries on that page, so we picked what we thought would be the most common that people would look for.  We have plenty of info on Canadian Wines of course, and will be focussing on specific appellations in our editorial at some point.

Actually, there are locations in Snooth dedicated to British Columbia and Ontario repsectively - the producers of the vast bulk (if one can actually call it a bulk) of Candian juice.  I personally hold more than a passing interest in BC wines (being a native of the Province) and regularly review wines from the region.  Try exploring the Snooth site and you should be able to find many reviews and discussions of Candian wine in general and BC wine in particular.
