Spike

08 Bin 128 is pretty good - should be around $20 mark, I am drinking a 08 Bin 28 tonight and it is definitely worth a shot if you can find it for around $18-25

07 Cape Mentelle is an excellent wine, usually around $40 over here

Never heard of Wakefield oops now found it, it is the export version of Taylors, if it is same blend as their standard it is a reasonable but not great Clare Shiraz

09 Vasse Felix Chardonnay is a very good Margaret River Chardonnay for around te $20-30 mark - the upmarket version Heystebury is excellent

Have you got more details on Yaldara Estate?

Was looking at the 05 Marqués de Murrieta myself, sounds like a good one, may have to pick up a bottle.

Cape Mentelle and Vasse Felix are both pretty good buys IMHO.  The Chaparrel is an inexpensive middling Garnacha.  The Murrieta is an old-time classic from one of the "original" Rioja bodegas - he brought French winemaking to Rioja back in the 1800s, creating what we today think of as "traditional".  Both of those years are outstanding.  The Moro may be the best wine of both lists if it's the Reserva.  If so, it's tannic and big, so decant it if you're going to drink it right away.  It's not "old school" but it's not a big, sloppy, sweet wine either - it's an example of what Ribera del Duero does well.  The vintages are OK, not the best in history, but not all that bad and you have good winemaking.

Cheers Guys, sounds like i'm going to have to purchase a few of these.

Stephen,

The Cape Mentella is on offer for £12.99 around $20

Yaldara Estate is one of McGuigan Wines wineries and is situated in Lyndoch, in the Barossa Valley wine region of South Australia.

It's a 2008.
