Any interesting Petite Syrah (or Durif) Wines?
Posted by barri0s1872, Apr 6.

The store that i am currently working at used to sell this wine called Verget du Sud Petite Syrah "Endes" and it turned me onto the grape. It had the nose of a beach with that fresh misty scent of salt in the air, the body was great medium texture, mildly spicy in the end, and overall had a great taste; we sold bunches.

So i'm wondering if there are any other's that anyone here has found that struck them?

One that I particularly enjoy is the Foppiano Reserve Petit Syrah from the Russian River Valley. It has great complexity with fruit and a nice mix in of well managed oak, and the color is amazing!

What a timely question. i am just now assembling samples for our Petite Sirah GTi tastings in 2 weeks.

We have a pretty interesting line-up of 2 dozen wines. The PTP tastings are held weekly in the city so if Petty Sarah interests you this might be a tasting worth attending!

What's a GTi tasting? Are they held at Italian Wine Merchants?

Not at italian Wine Merchants but rather here in Snooth's conference room.

We blind taste a case of wine virtually every week and invite our members, and people in the trade, to come join us for these small tastings. They last about 2 hours and the results get written up here on Snooth.

The GTi's are a lot of fun.

I highly recommend that Snoothers who can get to NYC for an evening or who is traveling here for business (or pleasure) try to attend one.
