Attended another very good wine tasting at my local retailer last night, this was the way to put on a tasting, knowledgeable staff, lots of food, friendly atmosphere all of which contributed to a very enjoyable evening and most people ended up buying something. Amongst the highlights were....
Stag's Leap Karia Chardonnay, Napa Valley - Tropical, ripe, caramel sweetness (bit on the expensive side at £25 but very nice)
Two Hands Gnarly Dudes Shiraz - Beautifully smooth, almost a polished texture, plums, cola and a kick of peppery spice ( again expensive £22 )
Chateau Musar - firm favourite by all on the night, caused a lot of discussion, I've had a few bottles of this before and must say it's stunning.
others tasted .....
King's Favour Sauvignon Blanc, Marlborough
Grande Ardeche Louis Latour
Royal Tokaji Dry Furmint,
Chateau Caronne St Gemme, Haut Medoc , Bordeaux
They also had a selection of Port, Whiskey and Brandy to taste, all in all a nice evening, !
Another great 'Wine Tasting' evening

Wow. Pretty eclectic.
I'd never heard of Chateau Musar and just assumed that it was another of the seemingly zillions of Bordeaux Chateaux that I'd never heard of before. Bekaa Valley!!! Boy was I wrong. Of course that is nothing new.
Sounds like you enjoyed your evening.

Yes, great evening, the Chateau Musar is uniquely different caused a stir when some of the tasters found out it was Lebanese, someone said it was a wine to be drunk with only your closest friends. Also heard it said that it's the only wine that would stand up to smoking Cannabis ( not that i would know !) .
Rusty like colour, brilliant flavours of Figs and stewed red fruits, spicy and intense tannins and oak. I would go as far as saying that once tasted you're hooked.
I wish all tastings were as good as this.
