Alcohol is Linked to Early Stroke Risk

Posted by Zuiko, Dec 20, 2012.

Be careful out there!

A recent French study concluded that those who consume 3 or more drinks per day are at higher risk of early hemorrhagic stroke. This is the brain bleed type. On average, those that consumed this amount of alcohol had stokes 14 years earlier than people who drank less. This type of stroke runs in my family, so this news really got my attention.

Terrible news if valid!

Got a link?

I saw it in "Bottom Line Personal"  magazine dated Dec 15, 2012, last page.  I also did a Google on it and found the same thing with more detail.

But my dears, you are not taking into consideration the fact that alcohol reduces stress - in moderation, of course.  Alcohol consumption in excess - like certain other foods - leads to hypertension, and if one considers the probability distribution of drinking (in terms of quantity) then of course there is risk.

Now, I have not yet read the article and if I change my point of view after reading same I will get back to you...

Really?  People have been drinking alcohol beverages (especially beer and wine) for the last five thousand years and .... the demand is still strong.  Try to eliminate alcohol from the daily life and you will see what a disaster it is - just go to Utah (Mormons don't drink, at least publicly) and see that the incident of mental illness is the highest in the whole US there. Real fact, not the one found under a Snapple cap.
