Alcohol induced stupidity

One evening, while watching the Military Channel and drinking Cabernet Sauvignon, Port and Brandy I got the urge to send my lady friend a dirty text message mentioning her private parts in a vulgar manner.

Now, I have poor eye sight to begin with and drinking didn't make my eye's any clearer. I send this vulgar text with a smile on my face and continue to watch television.A few minutes later I decide to check all of my outgoing text messages and find to my horror that I sent this filthy text message to a female co-worker of mine. In horror I called the intended recepient ( my lady friend ) and explained to her what I just did ( if I remember correctly, I think she started laughing )

I was able to salvage my relationship with my co-worker and now I double check before hitting send!

Have you been mocked by alcohol ?

I guessed it explained very much why I would just get very quiet when I have a bit too much wine in me... lol

outthere - not only communication skills but basic social awareness and manners.  Did you see that video of the lady in the shopping mall who was texting and walked right into a fountain? Then she sued because the guards posted it on YouTube.  She was on some news channel crying because she was so embarrassed and felt that they should have to pay for her stupidity.

She wasn't even drunk!

Good save but I bet your co-worker looks at you a little differently these days.

And whatever you said to her it can't be as gross and clumsy as that message Prince Charles sent to Camilla one time.

Back to the original topic:  Who hasn't?

Text messages have their place, but things have gotten out of hand.  heard a feature on NPR's Science Friday on exactly this: http://www.sciencefriday.com/program/archives/201102256

My wife works in social change using technology, and there's a need to use it to reach young people, but such a double edged sword.

Haha...who hasn't done that ;).

I remember trying to text afterbar after a wine tasting.  It was the point where your eyes get kinda blurry and you can't text well.

Needless to say my wife had 15 text from me that were all one word long.

Texting is definitely not the downfall of communication.  If anything it's helping people to communicate more...

The great tragedy of communication technology is that it is changing the world we live in in many positive and practical ways, but sadly and inadvertently it is having some very serious unintended consequences as people fail to realise the power and potential for damage that it can reek.

Foxall is on the money, its use is both essential and dangerous.

Yes I could list my text/email screw ups but that would be a long list.

As to AIS ones, fortunately I tend to talk too much when in the AI state and generally only respond to people sending me texts or comparing wines with friends at different events.

GregT, I can never forget that message to Camilla.

I wonder If ol' Charles had a few in him when he left that message.

Oh, I don't know, lots of fun photos come out of drunken debauches. Even if friends offer the moon and stars to get them back (hey, one friend of mine even deleted in front of me on my request, though she was definitely in the minority). Have to keep a watch on Facebook and strategically detag, of course... ;-)

Texting works for a lot of circumstances. Double-edged sword for telecoms firms, though, since I wonder how many people under 30 spend much time doing voice over circuits these days....

Deleting in front of someone, is this some sort of fetish or new perversion ?

That was her way of trying to prove her honesty and sincerity. Unfortunately there's someone else who generally has a great heart but is insisting on holding pictures of me involving a cage on rollers, an almost lifesize (well ponysize, anyway) leather hobbyhorse with straps, and other implements, for some unnamed purposes of extortion in the future. Perhaps at some point I'll regain those negatives (it was a few years back), and turn the tables on her... ;-)

Let's call it SUI--stupidity under the influence. If there's a Hall of Fame for it, I might be a candidate...

I think you should post said pictures on Snooth dmcker. A cage on rollers AND a leather hobbyhorse with straps and OTHER implements.

I think you should keep this person on your good side. LOL!

                                             Thanks for sharing.

Sounds nearly as bad as me dressing up as Frank n Furter and then trying to act out Sweet transvestite - A male trying to dance in high heels under the influence is just not an attractive sight! but I did not fall over!

I have seen the video, forunately it is in the possession of my wifes best friend and they have agreed that the broader public probably is a better place without seeing it - however it has not been deloted?
