2004 La Reserve de Leoville Barton - When to drink?

Hi Everyone,

I have had this bottle for about 3 years now, and I'm not really sure when the best time to open it is. I don't think it was a particularly good year, but I fancy opening it at a good time none the less (and perhaps this time has passed..)

There doesn't seem to be much information out 2nd wines out there. I know when to open a regular Ch. Leoville Barton, but unfortunately I don't have the money to buy one!

Hi Bertie,

Assuming you're storing this correctly, give it another few years. If you're not sure about the storage, definitely go ahead and pop it.

Drinkable now, but should peak after 2014 - assuming you have stored it prudently. Storage is the key: do not let the temperature range too freely and do not let it exceed 18 degrees Celsius if at all possible.

The French would have downed it already, but waiting is the Anglophone way and being Anglophone, I say try and hold out 3 or 4 years; 2004 is a reasonable vintage.
