I had this wine on Saturday night. Has been quite some time since I enjoyed a Gigondas. I thought this wine was excellent. Earthy with good acid and fruit. Just the way I like my reds. I can't seem to track this vintage down. Would appreciate if anyone can recommend producers with similar styles or other vintages which may be similar.

Gigondas is a well-known for high value Grenache-based wines - a kind of poor-man's Chateauneuf de Pape to some. Try Montmirail or St. Cosme to start. And don't worry too much about the vintage if buying from the last decade. 2001 and 2003 were fine vintages in the southern Rhone and are drinking perfectly now and 04, 05 and 06 are also excellent (but might benefit from further bottle aging). I'd just focus on the first two vintages unless you want to lay up wine for the future.

Thanks for the recommendations. I will try to hunt these down. I used to drink Chateauneuf a bit a long time ago and don't remember them being quite like this.
