i was curious about this wine:
Clos de L'Oratoire des Papes, Chateauneuf du Pape, 2003, vin blanc
i have never tried a white CDP, and i was wondering if anyone out there has...
i happened across a bottle and wasn't sure if an '03 is past it's peak, or might age longer...
thanks for your thoughts!

Funny, I was just thinking about the red Clos de L'Oratoire, because I was picking my daughter up near a store that sells it. I get the feeling, since Safeway and Andronico's carry that label, that it's pretty mass market as CdP goes, but I've never succumbed and bought either.
This might be good right now, but I'd look around at sites that include a drinking window. Red CdP can last a long time, but it's case by case with those and most are at their peak 5-6 years out. The other big question is going to be how it's been kept. Unfortunately, as you may already know, CT does not indicate a drinking window for this wine. Other CdP Blancs on CT show a variety of windows, but none says that it's too early to drink it now. As GregT would say, better to drink it on the way up than on the way down.
