1985 bottle of Cabernet Sauvignon

Posted by Snoother 1442058, Dec 27, 2013.

Hello. I have a Harvard business school class of 1988 graduate bottle of 1985 Sonoma county Cabernet Sauvignon produced and bottle by glen Ellen winery and vineyards. Is it worth anything.

Well, it's worth opening and seeing if it is any good.  It might also be worth something to a grad of that class who drank hers/his and wishes he/she had one for the shelf.  But this kind of effectively private label bottling--you can get these for weddings, too--don't really have a resale market.  I checked on Ebay because I am pretty sure Christie's, Benchmark, and HartDavisHart don't have any comparables, and I got a pepper grinder made from one of these bottles (but without the Harvard designation).  Sorry I cannot be more help.

Now, if Harvard B school was so good at projecting the value of stocks (esp in fine wine), they would have give out Caymus Special Selection, which is selling for about $180 (current auction on WineBid is $130)...
