"Tropical fruits" on Snooth

November 2009

This year I got the opportunity to participate in a winery employee project. Me and a few of other employees at Loxton Cellars got half a ton of Syrah grapes to make our own wine from. We’ll do all the work and we’ll...

I know WS gave this 90 pts and deservedly so. It's smooth and creamy with nose of fig, pineapple and almost honeysuckle. Nothing overpowering, both the nose and the palate are balanced excellently. It's got just the...

La Crema Sonoma Coast Chardonnay 2007

A Morning in Houston with Drops of Golden Dew: Dotson-Cervantes Gotas de Oro It was 9:30 on a weekday morning when the door bell rang. I expected this as, the evening before, I received a call from Alphonse Dotson. He...

Intensely Chocolaty on the nose with a spicy, tropical fruit/ orange peel tone and perfumed, brambly, juniper scented blackberry fruit. A bit chunky and even chewy in the mouth but with refreshingly raw tannins and nicely...

Lionheart Wines Syrah Dry Creek Valley 2007

Starting at $43.00 Snoothrank: 3.5/5
October 2009

Raspberry, blueberry, and mango treats are dancing in this wine. A sweet celebration in your mouth. Some citric acid and underdeveloped tannins, and it seems to fade quickly.

Excelsior Shiraz 2007

Sangria is whatever you want it to be. Cut up some oranges, add some sugar, maybe even some orange juice, then a little brandy and a bottle of wine. If you want it more flavorful, throw in some fresh strawberries, some...

Very light straw color with a very tropical fruit and pear nose. Light bodies with balanced acidity and hints of a green/grass flavor. Firm, lingering aftertaste with citrus notes. Similar to a Pinot Gris with less sweetness.

Guilbaud Freres le Soleil Nantais Blanc 2005

Starting at $8.14 Snoothrank: 3/5
October 2009

Although I seem to remember the odd reference to 'Canary Sack' in old English literature (including Shakespeare's Merry Wives of Windsor and Henry IV), I hadn't really seen much less tasted any until I found myself passing...

This is surprisingly very, very good. Beautifully golden, heavy initial sweetness before apple, pear and tropical fruit kick in and a silky smooth finish. Very much recommended.
