"Temperate fruits" on Snooth

Don't know how adventurous you wish to get (if that's really the right word), but I just remembered some excellent meals with pinot noir I've had based around rabbit, both in Switzerland and along the Russian River in...

Tastes of leather, rich berries and cream all aged in oak. A nice malbec with hints of spices typical of a shiraz. Very drinkable by itself.

Dona Paula Estate Shiraz/Malbec 2007

Starting at $13.49 Snoothrank: 3/5

Ruby Red. Rich Berry, light spice. Flavors of cherry, currant, leather, smoke and earth. Has a great tangy acidity. Aeration softens the wine nicely. A manly Rioja - simps and pansies beware! From IWC, 88 points: "(95%...

Senorio de P. Pecina Rioja Joven 2007

Starting at $14.99 Snoothrank: 3/5

Inky, fruit forward, berry and a slight chocolate tone. No special nuances to this selection, but worth the $10 I spent on it. I would call it a very good picnic wine or a wine to drink out on the back patio with a friend.

Purple Cowboy Tenacious Red 2006

Starting at $11.99 Snoothrank: 3/5

Dark and inky with a slight brown edge. Initial hit of berries followed by mint and wood aromas. Big with lots of tannin right away but after some time decanting rounded out with a nice raisin and dark berry flavor....

Ramey Cabernet Sauvignon Annum 2006

Starting at $154.84 Snoothrank: 3.5/5
October 2009

This is my favorite wine. It is very tart but has so much more character on the palate. I get plums, berries, and caramel on the nose.

Alto Vineyards Chancellor 2005

Starting at $15.30 Snoothrank: 3.5/5
October 2009

Think berries! Raspberry, blackberry with hints of dark chocolate. Fresh and beautifully balanced. Really enjoyed this wine with cheese. Fun wine!

Jam Jar Sweet Shiraz 2009

Starting at $9.95 Snoothrank: 3/5

Some weeks ago I tasted the Zweigelt from Weingut Berger Leginthov. I was surprised - the Zweigelt was excellent. The colour was dark red and it tasted very fruity. I believe it smelled like fresh berries. I am sure I have...

I liked this wine. Fruity berries and loads of raspberries, a favorite of mine, with a little bit of a spicy cinnamon. A medium lingering finish for a smooth ending.

Beau Vigne Cabernet Sauvignon Juliet 2004
